Jim Morrison

Round and round we go…

“Do not jump over the fence”

Cemetery services for the City of Paris have placed new signs on the barrier surrounding Jim’s grave. See my previous post for more information on the unfortunate, but understandable, actions taken by Père Lachaise cemetery officials to combat visitors defacing the area.

I’ll be honest, I think Jim Morrison would be upset that people can’t mark up his grave (as easily) anymore. He probably would have thought all the graffiti was cool, and would be honored people would take time out of their day to write a little message, poem, or lyric. He didn’t exactly have a conservative personality, after all. I understand if people were marking up neighboring graves though, but still… its sad to have lost all that.

What a cool site this is, Susan! I have not been to Père LaChaise since 1989 and it is fascinating to see how Jim’s gravesite has changed. You have great information and photos here. Thanks for stopping by Travel Oops and liking the post about looking for Jim’s grave at Père LaChaise and for re-blogging it as well!!
