New Wave director Agnès Varda died yesterday at the age of 90 taking with her what was certainly priceless information about Jim Morrison’s time and death in Paris.
Varda and Morrison were friends. She was called to Morrison’s apartment upon his death and was one of only 5 people who attended his funeral in Père Lachaise cemetery. It was Varda who arranged his burial in 1971.

As far as I know, she never spoke or wrote about the relationship or Jim’s death publicly. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

Rest In Peace Agnès Varda. She kept the secrets. I love her work. Maybe she left something to be shared upon her death. Rest In Peace Jim.

I read something from her once (somewhere) where she spoke about Jim Morrison coming to her child’s birthday party and visiting other times and just sitting for hours in her back yard without speaking. I’ll try to find it.

Correct, she was very discreet as were most who attend the burial, including Doors manager Bill Siddons, close friend Alain Ronay, Morrison’s girlfriend Pamela Courson, and Morrison’s assistant in Paris Robin Wertle, and Varda, of course.
